KING OF THE PLAYGROUND

14.02.20 at 5 PM – 11.30 PM Bridge Art Space, Bangkok
as part of Gallery Night 2020

The actions, taking turns between each participant and me, depict the struggle for dominance on this playground.

Any deeds done by the audience were reciprocated in kind;
When the audience threw a ball at me, I threw it back.
When they put a ball into the pit, I put it out.
When they moved the pit to the left, I moved it to the right.

The confrontation between the power holder and the weaker, in this scenario, causes a never-ending battle. When one side is winning, the other is losing unavoidably.

This Performance is the final work from the workshop “Body Politic: Out of Picture”
Durational performance

Thai performance artist Taweesak Molsawat led five artists in a four-day workshop to explore durational performance with a culmination of five new performance pieces developed to debut and exhibit during “Galleries Night BKK 2020”. “Body Politic: Out of Picture” showcases these performances happening within Bridge Art Space as well as other public and private spaces. The project aims to develop and create alternative outlets for a new generation of performance artists while also bringing awareness to durational performance in Thailand.
