During my flight to Athens, I noticed how advertisements on my flight websites, in airports, and on airplanes repeatedly portrayed my destination city
beneath a clear blue sky. This visual overlapped with my experience working in an advertising agency. Recognising the same visual for both Athens and

Bangkok, I became interested in how this iconic shade of blue plays a role as an imaginary for tourists, promising that their vacation will be filled with

bright sunlight and warm weather. After my first week of residency in Exarcheia, I began noticing the same blue colour in the everyday objects used

by people in the neighbourhood. For me, this blue colour now appeared both as an invitation to tourists and as evidence of the tourism that followed that

invitation. In this exhibition, I collected blue objects found on the streets as part of my exploration of Athens and used these materials to reconstruct an artificial blue sky, as a replica of the scene that tourists expected. Through this installation, the exhibition space was camouflaged and transformed as if surrendering to the waves of tourism and finally striving to become a tourist destination itself. This exhibition aims to portray the effect of repetitive visuals

produced through tourism advertising in both Athens and Bangkok, two cities whose economies heavily rely on tourism. Under ongoing global conflicts, this economic dependence has resulted in cultures and lives being reshaped in an attempt to meet tourists’ expectations, especially the promised blue sky.

For the Performance Please Come Visit My Body

A performance in which I gradually transformed myself into a commodity, as if becoming a tourist attraction. Painting elephant patterns directly onto my body, I appropriated one of Thailand’s most common tourist motifs. Through my movements, I interrogated the gaze of visitors and the way
touristic imagery comes to define places, lives, and bodies, including my own.
